Dr. LI Mei is Associate Professor of the School of Journalism and Communication at SISU. She holds a BS degree in English for Science and Technology from Shan Dong University of Technology, a MA degree in International Information from Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and a Ph.D. degree in English Language and Literature from Shanghai International Studies University.

Dr. LI’s academic interests have included the translation of Classic Chinese literature, as well as the mutual enhancement of both capacities of translation and English writing etc. She has made quite a lot of efforts in improving the students’ theory and practice of translation and writing, and has won accolades from both undergraduates and postgraduates. She has offered courses such as Intermediate English Writing, English News Interview and Writing, Advanced English, Translation Theory and Practice, etc., for undergraduates; and since the end of 2003, she has also offered courses of Theory and Practice of Translation and Writing and Translation Study for postgraduates.

Her publications include the following books: UNESCO’s Internet Universality Indicators: A Framework for Assessing Internet Development (tran. 2019); Steering AI and Advanced ICTs for Knowledge Societies: A Rights, Openness, Access, and Multi-stakeholder Perspective (trans. 2020); An Advanced Course Book of Chinese-English Translation (2015), Translation of Chinese Classic Literature under American Cultural Background (2014), Mother Tongue and Translation (2008), An Intermediate Course of English Writing (2006), On the Translation of Hong Lou Meng (2006), Stylistic Translation (2002), The New Century Multi-functional English-Chinese Dictionary (2003), and 20-plus papers on translation study. She has been granted Fellowship of Shanghai Pujiang Program (2011-2013), Fulbright Senior Research Scholar Fellowship (2009-2010), as well as Fellowship of Shanghai Excellent Young University Teachers (2004-2005).
