MA Jingxiu

Ma Jingxiu is an associate professor with a Ph.D degree in Foreign Linguistics and Applied linguistics, and a supervisor for postgraduates in English Linguistics. Her research interest is displayed in the field of English news discourse analysis, as well as western rhetoric. Since March 2001, she has been teaching in the School of Journalism and Communication, Shanghai International Studies University(SISU). The courses she offers are Intensive English reading, Grammar and Writing, Audio-visual-oral English, Linguistics, and English News Analysis. She has been a visiting scholar to University of Texas at Austin respectively from Jan. to Dec. 2015, and from Jan. to March 2020. She has completed two research projects sponsored by SISU, and participated in a research project granted by the Committee of Ethic Affairs. She has published a number of papers in CSSCI-indexed journals featuring either journalism or linguistics. She has authored the manuscript “English News and Rhetoric”, which is to be published by Shanghai Jiaotong University Publishing House in 2023.
