Dr Gao Kai is a lecturer of media and film in the SISU School of Communication and Journalism. He has authored two books, Chinese Cinema:Cross-border and Critical Practice (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, 2022) and Research on the Overseas Promotion of Chinese Film in a Globalized World (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, 2023). And has published dozens of articles on the issues of film culture, the globalization of Chinese film, and new media studies. He is a film critic as well and currently writing about film for Literature, Chinese Film. He has won several awards, including the Best Paper Award in Shanghai College Student TV Festival, and received nomination for Best Film Critic by SUMG.He was also invited to join the jury of Beijing College Student Film Festival. His work focuses on film sociology and world cinema. In addition to teaching courses in movie business, new media culture, and global cinema.
